In November 2010, Pastor Bobby Blanton lovingly challenged Lake Norman Baptist to reflect on the bigger picture of life and renew its commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God. As a church, we embarked on the Acts 1:8 Initiative to become movers for Christ and to make an impact in our community and world as we take the Word of God to the “ends of the earth.”
LNBC is a family of faith committed to being on mission for Christ. Our new logo is a reflection of that. It’s updated with a fresher approach to where we’re headed as a church, while still staying true to our traditions. The pieces of our sailboat come together to form the cross- a symbolic acknowledgement that it takes every ministry, volunteer, staff member and person in our congregation working together so that we may bring others to Christ.
The sailboat represents Paul’s journeys and struggle to take the Gospel to other nations, much like our own. It represents our own personal voyage to discover Christ, and illustrates that we’re in motion to being on mission for Christ. The cross is incorporated into the sailboat to remind us that the cross is at our center and should represent who we are first when others initially see or meet us: as Christians.
Thank you for being apart of the LNBC family and for the impact that you’ve already made for the Acts 1:8 Initiative.
“But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 2 Thessalonians 2: 13-14
