Who Are MOPS?
Whether you are in the midst of your first pregnancy and are unsure what to expect, or your youngest just started kindergarten, MOPS has something in store for you. MOPS is for all mothers of children ages birth to five years old.
MOPS is a place where moms have the opportunity to make new friends, share experiences, learn from each other, laugh together, and learn biblical principals pertaining to womanhood, marriage, and parenting. MOPS provides opportunities for social outings and community missions geared specifically for preschool-aged children and their families.
Why MOPS?
We strive for your MOPS experience to be:
- Relevant, so every mom will know MOPS is for her.
- Relationally Inclusive, so every mom feels welcome and accepted in the community.
- Growth-Oriented, challenging each mom to grow as a woman, mother, and leader.
- Purposeful, teaching how each mom is part of God’s bigger purpose, picture and plan.
- Passionately Christian, drawing every mom (and her family) one step closer to Jesus.
What to Expect at MOPS?
Each meeting begins by dropping of your precious little ones at MOPPETS childcare. The following two hours you will enjoy uninterrupted time for brunch, conversation and learning new ways to grow as a mom. Our meetings are designed to equip moms with practical ways to make mothering more effective and our goal is to always point moms back to Christ. MOPS offers the support and encouragement that moms today need to help them center their hearts and homes around Christ.
MOPS This Year!
Entering its fourth year, Lake Norman Baptist Church is excited to be hosting a MOPS group for mothers in the community. We provide a welcoming environment for mothers to meet, connect with and encourage one another through this journey of motherhood through the preschool years. Our mentors are on hand at most meetings to provide additional encouragement, advice and prayer for anyone who seeks the wisdom of someone who has already navigated through their journey as a MOP.
In our open, accepting community of MOPS, we will learn from great mentors and each other, be equipped with excellent tools for implementing what we learn at home and continue to shape our own personal mothering style. We have exciting speakers, creative solutions and activities planned for this year, so check us out! Invite a friend!
MOPS Meetings are held twice a month on Thursdays starting in September continuing through May. MOPS begins with brunch at 9:30AM in the LNBC Fellowship Hall.
We have many exciting speakers, creative solutions to take home, and activities planned for this year, so check us out. MOPS just might offer the difference in your life that you’ve been longing for.
Who Are MOPPETS?

They are divided into age-appropriate groups and are involved in planned activities such as games, stories, crafts, music, and physical play. All of our MOPPETS workers have been carefully screened by both LNBC MOPS members and LNBC staff.

A MOPS Mentor Moment:
Being a mom of young children, the days sometimes just seem to run together. Life can seem so ordinary. But if I could remind every mom everyday just one thing, it would be to remember that every moment matters in life.
The moments at the sink, the moments changing the sheets you just changed yesterday, the crazy trying to get out the door moments, the moments in the car on the way.
You can tell a child over and over how to behave, but seeing how you behave is what will stick with them. Your kids will respond to life the way you respond to life, the good and the bad.
Parenting is Leadership… speed of the leader speed of the team! Never forget, you teach what you know by you reproduce WHO you are!
What’s MOMSENSE?
We are excited about the 2011-12 MOPS International Theme:
MomSense: Bold • Loving • Sensible – equips moms to embrace their mothering instincts and develop their own parenting style while navigating through the myriad of daily mom decisions. Most women wonder:
- How do I decide what to do when I really don’t know what to do?
- Should I trust my intuition?
- With so much available information, how do I discern what’s best?
- What are the most important family values?
Developing a mothering strategy is somewhat like playing a game — and this year’s theme is appropriately game related. We will learn how to have FUN being a mom! Playing games involves being bold and taking risks, loving those in the game with us and being sensible while figuring out what works and what doesn’t.
Just as in real-life, sometimes in games, unexpected, “chance” events occur, abruptly changing our paths. We must regroup and determine our next steps. Sometimes we follow the instructions of “experts.” Sometimes we follow the advice of trusted friends. Sometimes we decide our “house rules” work best for our family. Teaming together with other moms is a great strategy. Relying on a spouse or mentor can help us play more effectively. And, most of all, developing a strong God-Sense is essential for mothering. Growing as a mom through the analogy of game playing assures every mom gains confidence in her abilities as a mom.
Combining her mom intuition and her common sense helps a woman discover her own unique MomSense.
(Mom Intuition + Common Sense = MomSense)
This year’s theme book, MomSense: A Common Sense Guide to Confident Mothering, delves into Finesse (being the mom God intended you to be while intentionally loving your children and nurturing their growth). The book talks about decision making, mom’s intuition, working through specific parenting dilemmas and more. MomSense reminds moms that they are the best mom for their kids and that they can develop contentment and confidence in their roles.
Based on II Timothy 1:7. Timothy had a strong mother and grandmother who nurtured his faith. Paul exhorts Timothy to use the gifts God has given him in a bold, loving and sensible way.
Here at LNBC MOPS, we celebrate and embrace the fun in playing the game (using your finesse) to the best of our ability and encouraging each other through good sportsmanship along the way. Best part about MOPS is that 1) NO MOM plays ALONE and 2) EVERY MOM is a WINNER! Our goal is to show mothers that God has more to offer in our lives than just a busy, tired schedule…that this game we now call “LIFE” is full of great rewards, abundant joy and immeasurable hope!
Join us in 2011-12 for another incredible year of training, friendship and life as a mother of preschoolers!
