Local (Jerusalem) Opportunities

The Charlotte Rescue Mission

The Charlotte Rescue Mission is in need of travel size, unopened hotel bottles of shampoo, soap, lotion, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. This is an easy way to give a donation after a vacation or business trip. Bring any unused, unopened hotel samples to the church office or to the missions office located in room 137.

New Horizon for Children

• Dates: Christmas Hosting: mid Dec.- mid Jan. // Summer Hosting: July
• Organization: New Horizons for Children

• Cost: $2,500 per Child or $0 for a Chaperone

Looking for a way to act globally while remaining local? You and your family can host an orphan from Eastern Europe for 5 weeks during the summer or Christmas break. The goals of New Horizons for Children are to: expose orphaned children to the love of Jesus through Christian families; teach them about Jesus’ love through prayer; expose them to American culture and the English language; and teach them that they have a Father, the same heavenly Father that loves us and will never leave us. Hosting does not require much more than including the host child in your day-to-day life and activities. Unsure about hosting a child? Consider hosting a chaperone for 1-5 weeks while they travel to the United States with the children. Either way, your family will be able to share the love of Christ internationally within your own home.

Domestic (Judea/ Samaria) Opportunities

Red Springs, NC

Red Springs Mission Camp is a 52,000 square foot facility operated by North Carolina Baptist Men. The purpose of the Mission Camp is to provide a place where volunteers of men, women and youth can use their God-given skills to rebuild homes. In addition there will be two women’s homes where the LNBC women will share Jesus by feeding the ladies and praying with them. A sports camp will also be held at the Odom Children’s Home.

Lynch, KY

• Dates: May 7-11, 2012
• Organization: North American Missions Board

On this trip, you will work with NAMB missionaries to minister to those with physical and spiritual needs in Lynch, Kentucky. Some of the work that will be done includes: distributing boxes of food, visiting shut-ins, cooking & delivering meals to people in need, visiting nursing homes, working at a clothes closet sorting & distributing clothes while sharing devotionals & prayer time, working with youth & unwed mothers, prayer walking, doing construction work and working at the stables. There is something for everyone!

Son Valley- Elizabeth, WV

• Dates: June 25-29, 2012

Son Valley Baptist is the only Southern Baptist youth camp in the state of West Virginia. The purpose of the camp is to provide a minimal cost retreat where all children/youth/adults can experience God in an inspirational environment. Our projects will include VBS, construction, and ministry to those in need around the community. Additional information will follow once the camp is previewed.

NYC

• Dates: July 15-21, 2012
• Organization: Spread Truth Ministries
• Type: Evangelism, VBS, Sports Ministry

Spread Truth Ministries is projecting that over 300 people will gather from multiple churches and states to minister to the people of New York City. Spread Truth Ministries offers four options where you can serve during the week. The ministry tracks include: Streets & Parks, Summer Fun Week, Above the Rim Basketball Camps, & One Touch Soccer Camps. You can share the gospel in Central Park or partner with local churches and urban ministries through sports programs and VBS. Your home-base for the week will be Brooklyn, NY.

Shelby, NC

The Shelby Mission Camp is a warehouse facility located off Highway 18 in Shelby, NC. It is operated by the NC Baptist Men. The purpose for this camp is, it will allow our church to be trained and equipped to serve families that need to be assisted in our church, our community, or other parts of the United States when bad weather occurs. Some of the local projects will be construction, preparing and serving food and VBS. Since the Shelby warehouse is still under construction, more information will be coming.

International (the World) Opportunities

Bulgaria

• Dates: April 5-16, 2012
• Organization: Voicebox Ministries
• Type: Evangelistic

Voicebox Ministries is an evangelistic and discipleship ministry dedicated to equipping believers to go out into the mission field. This trip will take you to a country that is still dealing with the impacts of communism. They have a great desire to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Once in Bulgaria, you will be paired with a host pastor and translator who you will work with during your visit as you share the gospel daily to many individuals and families. You will be able to attend church with your pastor for two Sundays, giving you a chance to see many of the people you met during the week come to church to learn more about Christ.

Ukraine

• Dates: June 28- July 8, 2012
• Organization: Evangelical Free Church of Canada Missions
• Type: Children’s Ministry (Bible School)

• Cost: $650+ Airfare (includes loding & food)

On this trip, you will work with a Canadian and Ukrainian team in Krivoy Rog, Ukraine. You will be ministering in orphanages and handicap facilities for both children and men through a day camp program for the kids and renovating a commercial kitchen in a facility. This will include Bible stories, songs, crafts and games for the program. Team members are asked to provide supplies for crafts, games and lessons. The construction team is asked to provide some tools and equipment for the project.

Mol St. Nicholas, Haiti

• Dates: October 5-14, 2012
• Organization: International Commission
• Type: Evangelistic

International Commission is an evangelistic and discipleship ministry and has a covenant agreement with the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). The trip begins with a flight to the northern region of Haiti with the rest of your U.S. team. There you will be combined with local pastors and translators who will work with you during daily evangelistic visitations and nightly services. The religion in this area is voodoo and many need to hear about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
