Acts 1:8 Initiative

In November 2010…

our Senior Pastor, Bobby Blanton lovingly challenged our church to reflect on the bigger picture of life and renew its commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God locally and throughout the world. What better way to do this then to reconnect our hearts and minds to the heartbeat of Jesus Christ, the man who had an absolutely clear view of the needs of the human heart?

Having just completed the mission God had given him, Jesus gave a clear picture of what he wanted the disciples to do next and also gave them the resource they would need to carry it out. Luke records this purpose for us in Acts 1.8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

A few years have passed since Jesus shared that purpose but Pastor Blanton reminded us that the mission and the resource that Jesus gave still remains true today and we have a great opportunity to join Jesus and the disciples in partnering in fulfilling that purpose! As a church that seeks to be filled with people who are motivated to be equipped and on mission for Jesus Christ, we invite you to join with us today to partner in living out the purpose Jesus gave each of us to fulfill.

Simply put, together we are embarking on the Acts 1.8 Initiative with the purpose of reaching:

Our Jerusalem

To reach people locally we hope to see as many people as possible give 2% (1 week) of their time each year to sharing the Good News of Christ locally.

Our Judea/Samaria

To reach people regionally and nationally we hope to strengthen struggling churches, plant new churches, and continue to see people give 2% of their time to sharing the Good News of Christ regionally.

Our World

To reach people internationally we hope to see participation in short-term global mission projects, and assist in planting churches in foreign countries.

We invite you…

to join us in the Acts 1.8 Initiative and partner with us in living out a purpose that goes beyond ourselves. If this sounds interesting to you and your family, please let us know!
